FAQs
Hours/TrackitForward
How many hours do I need?
Total, every students needs 60 hours. However, this is split up over 3 different periods. 10 hours are due by the end of the summer, 35 are due at the end of first semester, and 60 are due in the beginning of May.
What counts as community service?
Anything you do not get paid for and does not fulfill another commitment. Volunteering that is already required by any class, club, or organization does not count towards NHS hours. You cannot benefit from the activity for it to be considered service hours. Service hours cannot be completed for family members, including typical household responsibilities or chores. No more than 12 hours for a single type of service may be counted.
Do donations count towards my hours?
If you donate to drives through the school, there will be specifications for how much you must donate in order to gain hours. We will announce these opportunities in meetings or via Remind. If you are unsure, email NHS for clarification.
Why are my hours not being accepted on Trackitforward?
Most likely you don't have enough information. Check the email that you used to sign up for Trackitforward, there should be an explanation for why they have been denied. When entering hours, make sure to include adequate information so we can know what you did and who you helped.
If I enter hours in June, will they count for the coming year?
Yes, any hours entered after the May hour deadline will be considered part of your 10 summer hours for the following year.
What if I don't get enough hours this year?
Volunteer requirements are a required part of your membership. Not meeting the volunteer requirement will mean that you are removed as a member of NHS. If this happens, you can reapply the next year. Any members not meeting volunteer requirements will receive an email from the advisor.
